As most of you already know, I have a two year old son, whom I absolutely adore. He is the most adorable little thing and so intelligent it almost scares me. So last nite we were sitting downstairs after picking him up from an evening with Grandma and "Ganpa" and suddenly he goes running upstairs yelling, "pee pee pee". He then proceeds to start carrying his little potty down the stairs so he can go on it with us being near by. Now mind you, he hasn't really been all that interested in the last few weeks. He had been sitting on it every now and then before bath time- but for some reason, he had this need tonite.
He proceeded to go potty about 1001 times in the next hour or so (I am not exaggerating -ok maybe just a bit but it was a LOT) and is really proud of himself. I didn't think it would carry into today- but what do I know. After bath time we had our normal routine of getting out of the tub and then he ran to the baby room to get his diaper and clothes. As I went to lift him for his diaper, he said "no- I poop" and went running back to the bathroom. He wanted help sitting down and wanted his towel around his shoulders as sort of a privacy fence I guess. He then proceeded to sit there for almost 20 minutes and complete what he had told me he needed to do. I could not even believe it. I was so proud of him- we cheered and danced and then he got dressed and we came and got a big bowel of M&M's.
I know this isn't meaning he is totally ready or that we are well established, but it is something and that is all that matters. I will let him lead and if he wants to go- he will go :) I am just so proud that he is showing initiative and being such a big boy at such an early age. We are going out sometime this week to get some fun big boy underwear so that he can tell us when he needs to go if he is wanting to continue working on this skill. My little baby is growing up.
