We have always prayed with Micah before bedtime for as long as I can remember, but now he is at the age where we want him to learn to pray on his own. We have been trying to have him repeat short prayers- he has here and there- but nothing consistent.
When Tim and the kids were waiting in the car last nite while I was waiting in the ER, they prayed for me. Tim said he sorta repeated what he said, non-the-less he made my heart sing at the thought. I told him how his prayers to Jesus helped me because I was feeling a bit better today.
Fast forward to dinner tonite and it is time to say prayers. I asked Micah to come sit on my lap and pray with me- he ran right over. Before I could even start he began, "Dear Jesus, thank you Mommy, Daddy, food. (insert something I couldn't understand and we added in Addie, which he then repeated). I then said, "be with us tonite" which he reapeted and then said "amen". It was so sweet- he knew enough of how to start a prayer and what he thought needed prayer. I am so happy that we are raising our kids to know and love the Lord and I pray that Tim and I can be shining examples of what His love is like to us.
I am going to engage in the 30 days of prayer for our children that Heidi posted on her site. Since I am a day behind, here is today's prayer for my children.
"Lord, let salvation spring up within my children, that they may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory". (Isaiah 45:8, 2 Timothy 2:10)
Micah wanted Addie to sleep with him tonite. Here he was taking her hand to say goodnite prayers.
