today. We had planned to spend today as a "birthday day" for Tim and since it was such a beautiful day out, we decided to go out and pick up some birthday gifts for the multitude of birthdays we have in our family the next month.
We had already been to Sams Club, Best Buy and Borders and were on our way to Toys R Us. On the way to TRU, we drove by a starbucks and Tim asked if I wanted to stop and get a drink. Normally I would have jumped at the chance- but something in me said no- maybe after TRU and Circuit City. So we went on our merry way and went to those two stores.
We decided to go to another store back by where we had first came from, again going by Starbucks- and were planning on going ahead and stopping this time. As we get close I see tons of flashing emergency lights and yellow police tape. (this is maybe 45 mins later)...
We get to the light in front of it and see that a car had crashed through the front of the building. The whole window section, bricks everything- caved in. We could tell that it had been a while since it had happened- it was already taped off and no ambulances were left- which means- it probably happened right about when I got that feeling not to stop.
I could have been inside- right where the car went through. Tim could have been parked with the kids right in the path of the vehicle.
I am still shaking just thinking about it. Istill don't know any details of how it happened or if anyone was hurt. All I can see in my mind is the front of Starbucks crumbled with police tape surrounding the parking lot. I can see the silver van which I assume to have been the offending vehicle. I can see all the police lights and people just standing around. That could have been us. We could have been there, but somehow and for some reason, we were protected.
