I am no longer deserving of such a title. I wonder if I should even share this story- I know that most of you will cringe and wonder how I let it happen- but this my place to share and this is what happened so judge me as you will- I deserve it.
Today while cooking dinner, I had left Addie in the room playing with a pile of blocks. Micah was playing with something else and Tim was in the dining room (which adjoins the kitchen) editing a video project. I heard Micah go upstairs to go to the bathroom- and never heard anything else until I heard this, "Yea!!!! Addie is coming to play with me! Yea Addie, Good Job!!" I tell Tim to go check on her- I figured she was at the bottom stair and he at the top- and wanted Tim to grab her before she went any further. He went to the living room and then I heard him say, "Oh no- Jen you have got to come here". As you probably already figured- she had crawled up all the stairs except the final two- which she proceeded to do as he stood there behind her. All in all, she made it up 13 stairs and a large landing- somehow all without falling backwards. I NEVER thought this would happen- I mean dang- she just started crawling oh- about a month or so ago and although has shown a bit of interest in the stairs- hasn't really tried venturing onto them before now. Thankfully, even though I am so not deserving, God was watching over her and placed a barrier behind her so that she did not tumble and get seriously hurt. My heart didn't beat right for at least the following hour and I have tears in my eyes now as I sit here and type this. I don't know why He watches out for my stupidity- but I sure am thankful.
In other news from tonite- my other child is about to be sent away to behavior management classes. Ok- not really- but darn it- the child is rotten! Thanks to him (and all the other previous tenants of our home that began the process) we will now be painting our front foyer this summer. As you probably guessed, he ripped a large chunk of the peeling wallpaper from the wall leading upstairs. Unfortunately- unlike all the other little tears in the paper- this is NOT in an inconspicable place- but instead front and center when you walk in the front door. (Of course, if the wallpaper weren't pulling up at every seam and totally peeled in some areas- he may not have had this chance- but that is a whole 'nother thread) The thing that really irks me- he was in time out at the time. I was changing Addie, Tim was editing and suddenly I hear this ripping. I figured it was a magazine or coloring book- I had NO idea we would find what we did. He is just on a roll right now and we are about to pull out our hair. Any suggestions?
On better notes today, I did get the kitchen cleaned up, baking some Easter Cutout cookies (YUM!), and made a nice dinner. Tomorrow I have mounds of laundry to tackle, a project to begin and hopefully almost finish, and hopefully we will have the warmer weather that is forecast so we can get outside to burn off some energy. If nothing else- to help keep me sane ;)
I hope all of your days went a bit smoother than mine- but the only good thing is that tomorrow really can't be much worse ;)
