Although Addie doesn't "officially" turn one until the 16th, we celebrated her first birthday this past Saturday with a fun "girly" party held at our home. We had quite a few people packed into our small house, but each and every person was an important person in her life and we wanted to make sure to include them all. (and we wish that those of you whom couldn't make it could have been there :( )
Addie had a wonderful time eating, playing, opening gifts (of course with Micah's help) and then eating the cake. She received TONS and I do mean TONS (a rocking horse, cd player, leap frog bus, bubble machine, Chair and table, Ride on Toy, Sandbox, Cookie set, Tea Set, Kitchen set, Kitchen Supplies, DVD, huge ball, beach towel, purse and accessories, and much much more) of new toys. (which she has been totally loving all this week- she goes from toy to toy just marveling at all she has). Following presents, we sang "Happy Birthday" and it was time for her first taste of cake. I made her a special Angel Food cake with Cool Whip as her own to enjoy. When I first sat it down in front of her- she went for a head dive- LOL. That started us all laughing- which in turn scared her and after looking around at everyone- she burst into tears :(
It took a few minutes of calming her down and some fingerfuls of icing before she decided it would be fun to try on her own. From that point on, there was no turning back. By the end, she looked like a clown- her entire face was painted bright pink. Instead of trying to just wash it off, we took a quick trip to the tub and came out like new :)
I just want to share a few pictures from the day and I hope to upload some of the more random pictures in the next day or so to my Yahoo photos (link on the side). My laptop is being repaired so I have no idea how quick things will get done with that :)
