Ahhh- another Thanksgiving has come and gone and with it has ushered in the Christmas season. Why does it seem as though this time of the year moves in warp speed? I simply can not wrap my mind around the fact that we have less than a month until the big day. Aye aye aye. Now to decorate, finish shopping, and sit back and enjoy. Oh...and make sure that Micah learns the true reason for Christmas- right now he says that it is when Santa brings him toys. YIKES!! We want him to enjoy it and have the magical childlike wonder- but also really want to stress what the day/ season is all about. I bought a little book with daily activities to do as a family throughout December- so hopefully it will help enforce the true meaning of Christmas :)
We had a really good Thanksgiving- we weren't able to meet up with my family b/c of conflicting schedules but were thankfully able to spend time with Tim's side most of the weekend (including his sister and I having a LONNNNG day at Circut City on Friday...) The kids always have a blast playing together- from dress up to trains, piano, dancing and making gingerbread houses- they were constantly busy. Micah is quite sad that everyone had to leave- he was ready to go home with them- poor guy. I guess Addie just isn't quite as much fun yet.
Tim and I did a bit more Christmas shopping today and then Micah and I made chocolate covered pretzels when we got home this evening. He is quite the good helper in the kitchen. It will be fun to bake Christmas treats with him this year.
With all of our travel in the past week- our trips to the Y have fallen to the wayside and boy do I need to go. Hopefully we can get back in our routine soon.
I have so much to do this week- hopefully I can get it all done. I really want to start decorating- that might happen tomorrow :) I am getting my hair cut Thursday and then out to shop for Tim...alone :) Woo hoo!! LOL Micah is back to school Wednesday and swimming on Thursday. Yikes- there goes another whole week. It never ends does it? I have a ton of pictures to share from this past week- but between my headache that doesn't seem to want to leave, and just plain tiredness, I think those will have to wait. I also want to spruce up the ole blog for the holidays- we will see how soon that happens ;)
Until then I thought I would share a few things I am thankful for this year. And... if you want to hear a good song about being Thankful... listen to Caedmon's Call, "thankful"
-Family (including, Tim, Micah, Addie, My parents and family, Tim's parents and family, etc...)
-God's blessing in our lives
-a house to live in
-friends
-men and women protecting our country
-conveniences we have that weren't around 100 years ago
-freedom
-my feather bed and new comforter (yeahhhh Black Friday!!) that cuddles me to sleep
-oppurtunities that have been given to me in my personal life
-life in general
So much to be thankful for- I definitely need to focus more on these on other days of the year :)
