Really- how can it suddenly be the eve of Christmas day? How did 2006 disappear and bring us to this date already? While excited about what tomorrow brings, I am also teary eyed at the realization of how quickly time passes and how short the holiday season is. I am not ready to take down my decorations. I am not ready to listen to "Silent Nite" for the last time. I am not ready to clean up the last of the Christmas cookies and put away my cards. I am not ready to be finished shopping and wrapping and spending time with family and friends. It simply can not be- but it is.
We are on our way to our Christmas Eve service- a cantata followed by a candlelight service. I am sure I will shed tears- it always hits me when the lights are dimmed low and the room lit by candlelight. The meaning of Christmas- it is what life is truly all about and for this I am thankful.
