This week simply flew by and here we are at Saturday already and only 5 days from Micah's first day of kindergarten. I am treasuring these last few days with him home all the time- it hit me today at lunch how it will just be the three of us eating together throughout the week starting next Thursday and how I won't be cooking a lunch, etc... etc...
On that same note, a few things have came up since I last wrote, things that will seem crazy to the casual reader but a change that I believe will greatly benefit Micah. Our district here has four elementary schools and then an extra building (the Main Street building) that has has 2 overflow K classes. Normally the oldest child in a family attends there (so they aren't split from a sibling at their home school) but you can also request to be there (which happened quite a bit this year). We had originally thought Micah would be there due to him being our first in the school system but it ended up that he was at LE, which honestly, didn't matter much to us. Well... to make a long story short... there were too many students (classes had 28-29ish) and they ended up hiring another K teacher for the Main street building and were shuffling kids around to fill that class. Being that we know that teacher and all of Micah's friends are at Main Street, we volunteered to have him moved there which was glady accepted (it meant they didn't have to upset another parent that might not want their child being moved). So... Micah now has Mrs. Dougherty and is at Main Street with at least one girl from preschool in his class and numerous other friends at the same building. He is VERY Excited... we love the school already and his teacher is wonderful. It will be nice just having K students there and him being in a smaller setting for the first year.
Micah also completed his K screening yesterday and from what he said, he did very well. He was beaming when he walked back with his former teacher and even brought a sticker for Addie. The teacher said he did well and was impressed that he drew a picture of Addie when he was asked to draw someone. They do have a tight bond.
As we left, Micah said he was a bit sad to not be at LE b/c he would miss his teacher but that he was still excited for his new school. SO...
In other notes... Micah drew me a picture yesterday that said, "I love you Mommy but I can't be your babie (he spelled it himself) anymore" SNiff Sniff!! He then drew Tim one that said, "I like you better than Mommy" I must have done something to have him turn on me that way- eh? He later told me that he loved me as well but wanted to make Daddy happy. HA!!
Anyway... I am off to a photo session. Another beautiful day for photos :) Tomorrow will be crazy but one I am through it a lot will be off my shoulders. So until then...
