As I was about to come in and write this post- I glanced to the side and noticed my countdown ticker and how I supposedly have "1 day" to do. So hard to believe that he is actually already here and instead of B -1 day, he was one week old this morning. It brings tears to my eyes to think how quickly he is already growing. I want to cherish every single moment as I know how quickly time passes by. I love him more and more each day and still sit and marvel at the fact he is ours- the baby of our family.
I am still a bit sore- I am so ready to feel good and be up moving all around but unfortunately, I am still not there yet. Tomorrow shall be a big test as I have to head out for his first Dr. appt. Nursing is going well on the "him eating part" but a bit rough on me. I know I can struggle through but sigh... it would be easy to throw in the towel. I may put in a call to the lactation department before it comes to that but I can only pray things get better soon in that arena.
Silas is slowly but surely melding into our family. He sleeps (well at least his eyes are closed) at least 22 of 24 hours. I think he only wakes up to find his food and to cry through diaper changes ;) He is a little cuddle bug- not liking to lie down on his own when sleeping- but I am not complaining all that much... I love the little nestling he does- it won't be long before this cuddly stage vanishes.
Micah and Addie are absolutely in love with their brother. Addie is constantly helping me- either by bringing diapers and wipes or helping wash him or singing a song when he is sad. Her favorite song to sing... "Hush little baby don't you cry, Momma's gonna buy you a golden eye..." LOL She is a great big sister and it melts my heart to see her interact with him. Micah helps out here and there but is always interested in what Silas is doing and will come over for little peeks at him in between all of his big boy activities. It is wonderful to see my family come together like this... I couldn't imagine life being any better.
Oh... if you want to view his hospital photos...

We chose to keep him in the plain shirt as our other two were taken that way. The woman insisted on the blue shiny material... She was umm... a bit eccentric

wow...hospital photos have really advanced lately :) those are some posed shots :) i hope mine get to be the ugly old ones just like the other two-i remember with avery-i kept thinking it was just the sample picture she was showing me as i was holding her and she looked NOTHING like the pictures :) i was like "um, i think you mixed these up with someone elses" LOL! it sounds like the kids are adjusting so well! what a blessing! and as for the nursing thing...i am a firm believer in relaxing on the couch (laying back against the armrest) and letting gravity get the baby's latch in a comfy spot. i know you won't "throw in the towel" you are a determined mommy! and soon you will be "hardened" to the activity and it will be such a joy! if you need to cry out a few hormones-call me! i've been there :) love ya!

I'm so glad to hear that you are transitioning well to family of 5 :) and I hope your recovery (and nursing) goes smoothly and with the least amount of pain as possible. This is such a special time of bonding and it sounds like you're doing exactly that - CONGRATS again on your beautiful boy! :)

the boy is already spoiled. ;)
