2 Month Visit

Today was poor Ms. Addie's two month doctor visit. Unfortunately we also had to take Micah b/c of a rash he has and at last minute Tim had to make an appointment b/c of a pain in his side. That meant I was left to deal with two kids in a doctor's office more or less alone. Never again I tell you! To start things off, Micah didn't want to go back to the room. We finally got him in the dooor (luckily he knows the nurse from church) and were able to get Addie weighed. (13 lbs 9 ozs- OMG!!) Then it was Micah's turn. He threw himself on the floor and wouldn't get on the scale. He started to run down the hall and enter another patients room. YIKES! The nurse took pity on me and took Addie so I could deal with Micah. We finally get him on the scale and he is now 35 lbs according to that (but he had a huge toy in his hand- who knows?).
We get in the room and Micah won't let the nurse take his temp. She more or less gives up and just gets Addie's stats. The doc. comes in a few mins. later and wants to check Micah first. He is horrid- won't let her look in his ears or hardly touch him. She does a quick overview- doesn't listen to what I tell her about his rash and gives some quirky diagnosis that I don't think is correct. On top of that- he has Swimmers Ear and is now on three meds. Try putting drops in a 2 year olds ear- NOT FUN!
Anyways...back to the point of the story. So Addie has to get 2 shots this month :( She actually does really well with them- but Mommy hates it! Daddy has made it to our room by this point and has Micah contained so we could focus on Addie. Twenty mins later or so with prescriptions and a screaming kid (yeah- not the baby who got the shots- but the horrid acting 2 year old) we make it out of the office.
That was a harrowing experience and one I hope not to repeat anytime soon. I even more think that we need to look for a new doctor for the kids. I am just so frustrated- I am pretty sure Micah's rash is an allergy- it came on after he had hives and his eyes have been swollen...but the doctor just brushed me off. I want a doctor that I can talk to and who listens to what I am explaining. Tim is finally seeing my point and if we are changing insurance this fall, we will be looking for a new doctor for them. I will miss the nurses- they are WONDEFUL!- but I just want to be comfortable with the care that my children are receiving.
