So I still sit here glued to the tv as I watch countless account after account of the horrors that these people are facing. All I can say is, "why"? Why aren't people's basic needs being taken care of? Why can the U.S. help all these other nations and yet have our people suffer when we ourselves are hit with a natural disaster? Do we really need to be hearing stories like this or this
Why are people refugees in their own city and dying while waiting for aid? Is this really the land of oppurtunity?
On the other hand...why do some people feel that they have the God-given right to take advantage of this situation in order for personal gain? There have been more outbreaks of looting, rioting and mass chaos and the hours have worn on. What drives people to do things such as this? I am sorry, but even in desperation, there is nothing that excuses these behaviors. Shooting at military planes that are there to bring the much needed aid? Come on! People get a clue- maybe the help would come faster if the worker's very lives were not being threatened.
