Today was our long awaited day, Micah's first day of preschool.
Things started off well- he woke up happy and anxious, ate a good breakfast and walked into the building ready to go. Of course, things went down from there. He sat down on a little bench while waiting to be let in and well, lets just say, he didn't want to leave that spot. When it was time to enter, he cried, sat down on the floor and said he didn't want to go. Before I could really do anything (with a slight tear in my eye), the director walked out, swooped him up and took him in the class. I handed his teacher his forms, and she told me it was ok to go, he would be fine.
I looked for Tim, found him and we left. (I did check on him before leaving- he was still in the director's arms but no longer crying)
11:30 couldn't come fast enough, I was anxious to hear all about his day and make sure that he had a good time. They have one of the teachers come out and brief the parents on the day's activities while the other wraps up the end of class. This week they are reading Eric Carlisle "From Head to Toe" and learning about their bodies and the classroom. They sang a new song, played "Teddy Bear Says" (Simon says with their class mascot), had circle time and station time and meet their new friends.
Micah was happy to see me, he was so grown up pushing in his little chair and walking over to me to take my hand and leave the class. The teacher and director both said he calmed down quickly and had a great day (phew!) He was so excited, hard to get him to tell me much, but when I prompted him with what I knew, he responded. He is now on the computer playing Dora and we are getting ready for lunch then nap. I am pretty sure this is going to be a great new addition to our lives :)
Here are a few pictures from the morning.
