Ahhh... the "official" start to the Beck summer... Memorial Day at Lakeside. We just arrived home today from our getaway to the Lake... and what a getaway it was. The cottage is opened, the cobwebs are cleaned out, weeds have been pulled, mulch has been laid, the whole Lakeside community has heard our mass of children running the streets, pounds of candy has been bought, the lake has carried our children on it's waves (first time it has ever happened on Memorial Day weekend!), ice cream has been eaten (and eaten again... and again...), bikes have been ridden, and shuffleboard has been played. THAT is what summer is all about.
In all of our years of going, it has NEVER been so hot and humid. I mean seriously... the kids swam in Lake Erie before the calendar turned to June. I pray that isn't a sign of things to come this summer! There always has to be the other side to the heat... we have been ridden with storms all day long... but thankfully we made it in between the worst of them driving home and are now watching it from the safety of our own living room. It was a trip no one will soon forget and we are already looking forward to reuniting in a few weeks for even more summer fun :)
