We have gotten into a pretty good bedtime routine with the kids and it is quickly becoming a favorite instead of dreaded part of my day.
For instance, tonite after both kids were in their pjs, I read "Goodnight Moon" to both of them as they snuggled up against me. After I finished, Micah took his turn "reading" it to Addie and I- he actually knows pretty much the entire story by now. When he said, "the end", it became Addie's turn to read- lol. I read the book again in a high pitched voice that both he and Addie thought was hilarious.
Following our story time, Micah chooses three songs he would like to sing to Addie. Tonite they were, "ABCs", "Jingle Bells", and "You are my Sunshine". It is sooooo cute when he sings to her- esp. when he sings, "sunshine". His version is more like this...."you my sunshine, my sunshine micah (make a but sounds like Micah) happy when skies grey, never know dear, how much i wuv you, peas don't take my sunshine away." It is sooooooooo sweet.
After singing he usually begs for another story- a Jesus story (something from the Bible) b/c he knows I won't say no. Silly boy ;) Tonite though, he told me one. He said, "Jesus has friends" "Gabe and Harper (his cousins) are Jesus friends" then some unintelligible nonsense. It was quite cute to see how his mind was formulating the story.
After Jesus story time, it is prayer time and then bed. He used to be really good about saying his prayers and then he got stubborn and refused. Now he is back to saying them again. Here was tonites..."Dear Jesus. Thank you a Mommy, a Daddy, a sister, and a Micah. Thank you for food. And noodles that Grandma made....mmm mmm mmm." there was more in there about Grandmas house (we went to Tim's parents house for his birthday dinner), and then he said he had to start over- and he repeated the whole first part again- complete with the "mmm mmm mmm". It was so funny! What a goofy boy ;)
In closing, I just want to share a picture from bedtime a few nights ago- this was Micah reading Goodnight Moon to Addie and I.

Micah looks a lot like Tim in that pic! What a precious photo. His little prayers were so cute and silly. I was laughing at how you read the book in the high pitched voice. So funny!!

omgosh, addie is getting so big b/c i know how big micah is and she doesn't even look that small next to him! he is such a good big brother! hopefully xander is just as nice to his new bro/sis!
