The Voices Within Me

Have you ever really sat back and noticed how much pressure the world puts on us to be perfect? Perfectly dressed, behaved, educated, spoken, mannered, sized, etc and so on. Every where we turn we are always expected to be at the top of our game because one little flaw must mean the system is broken and we all know a broken system is worthless. How can one ever really measure up? Can one ever really measure up? Most likely, a lot of time is wasted on trying. We all have so much baggage, whether physical, spiritual, mental... we all are broken in some area(s) of our lives. We have been taught to hide behind our few non-flawed areas in hopes that someone won't really see through our cover. We buy makeup, work ourselves to death, starve ourselves, pressure our children... whatever we can to show that we have it all together. A world of cut-out paper dolls wouldn't be all that fun... so why do we spend so much time trying to be like someone else?

What if we decided that flawed is ok? That flawed really isn't flawed but instead a part of the unique being we were created to be? What if everyone quit trying to measure up to one another and instead learned to love and embrace the person that they are? Psalm 139:14 states that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" To me, that means that each and every piece of us was hand picked by the Creator and that all of those pieces came together to form a whole, the complete person that stands living and breathing today. He had a design for us, and it is our choice as to whether we embrace it or instead live life fighting our very being. He loves us as we are... will we learn to do the same thing? Will you allow yourself to be broken, to be the cracked pot that is shaped into something beautiful in His hands?
