Last nite we finally had some time to get down and begin assembling all of the baby gear that has been put away since Micah. The last piece we got to was the new double stroller which my parents bought us for this baby and Micah. We wanted to practice setting it up and folding it back down before it came time for the real thing.
After we get it down the stairs and have it set up, we realize that the parent tray on the back is broken and will no longer stay up to use. There wasn't anyway of rigging it up, so our only option was to take it back to BRU and see if they can give us a new one. Today was another day of errands and a special day out we planned for Micah, so BRU made our list of stops.
Our day started out with my LAST doctor appt. for this baby :) When I got there we had a bit of a scare- my BP was 150/ 85 which is really really high. The nurse said my heart was pounding so asked me to take some deep breaths and relax a bit and she would take it again. The second time it was 140 over something which was still too high for me. We waited a bit more and the third time it was back down in the 130s/ 70 something- which for me is just about right while pregnant. The rest of the appt. went off without too much excitement. I am dialated a bit more but no sign of any labor, so looks like next Thursday is still the day we are having our little girl.
After the doctor, we headed to Circuit City for a few things and then off to BRU for our exchange. When we took the stroller up to the desk, we were informed that they no longer carried that model b/c of a recall. YIKES!! Hello- we would have had a recalled stroller if it weren't for that "lucky break". They were really nice about everything and told us that we could have the regular price amount towards another stroller of our choice- so off we went to test out the other double strollers.
For those of you not in the "know" there are very few choices for double strollers and even fewer choices of ones that are steerable. We almost settled on a Jeep model brand that looked really nice and had a lot of nice features- but it took all of my body weight and more to turn around a corner. What a nightmare! There was one other stroller we didn't look too much at b/c it had an infant carrier with it which we didn't need, but decided to test this one just to see the difference. Of course, this ended up being a great model and we spent a lot of extra money to get this stroller. Oh well- it worked out and now we just need to sell our old stroller and car seat and life will be peachy ;)
We picked up a few more things at BRU and then headed to Chick Fil-A for lunch and play time for Micah. The food was great as always and Micah had fun playing in the rainforest. After this we headed home and proceeded to spend the next few hours out by Micah's pool basking in the sunlight.
Later in the evening we put together the stroller (which was amazingly simple) and installed the car seat (what a pain) and did a few more things that needed taken care of. What a day! Even though it was crazy, it all ended up for the best and we were able to do a lot more than we thought possible.
